Alba to establish SPL treatment plant
Aluminium Bahrain (Alba) has announced the establishment of the first-of-its-kind spent pot lining (SPL) treatment plant in the GCC and Bahrain. With this plant, Alba aims at developing a value-creating and sustainable solution for the treatment of SPL with zero-waste. The new plant will have a capacity to treat up to 35,000 tonnes of SPL a year, which after being processed, can be used in other industries. The plant is expected to be operational by first quarter of 2021.
Trimal-38 (AlSi8ZnMn) has the potential to reduce energy demand and to increase cost efficiency by avoiding heat treatment after casting.
Nucor opens new plant with modern continuous caster from SMS Group for ultra-wide and ultra-thick slabs, walking beam and bogie hearth furnaces as well as water treatment system.
