Amag certified for Japanese industry standard

Amag is the first European aluminium producer to qualify for the JIS Mark in line with the Japanese Industrial Standards (JIS).

This qualification allows Amag to expand its product portfolio for the Japanese market. In future, the company will be able to supply aluminium sheet and plate for projects that require mandatory certification.

The qualification process was highly extensive: not only were numerous documents checked by the relevant Japanese authorities, the responsible Amag quality manager also had to complete a special training course on site in Tokyo. In addition, two audits were carried out at the Amag site in Ranshofen. In order to be able to meet the JIS requirements for materials testing, which deviate somewhat from the European standard, Amag purchased a tensile testing machine specially designed for this purpose.
