Ametek Land is launching two new temperature measurement enhancements for its Spot AL pyrometer at Aluminum USA 2021.
Ametek Land delivers multiple industry-leading solutions for the temperature measurement of production and processing applications, and visitors to Stand 443 will see its latest enhancements of the highly accurate and stable digital Spot AL pyrometer with the addition of low, and liquid aluminium, temperature measurements.
Two new temperature measurement enhancements
To monitor the cooling rate through the quenching process, it is necessary to precisely measure the aluminium temperature at each end of the process. This ensures the aluminium product has the required physical properties and precise dimension tolerances by the time it leaves the process. The new Spot AL LT (Low Temp) version is ideal for low-temperature quenching in aluminium extrusion and delivers market-leading readings from 130 °C (266 °F), depending on surface emissivity. A new liquid (L) temperature measurement mode for the Spot AL is also being launched. Designed specifically for temperature measurement control of liquid aluminium during melting and pouring – an important element in ensuring high-quality casting operations – this pyrometer mode delivers highly accurate results of liquid aluminium, ensuring process efficiency and high-quality castings.
In addition to the new enhancements, the Spot AL already offers dedicated pre-set algorithms to provide the most accurate digital temperature readings of low and variable emissivity aluminium in extrusion, quench, strip, forming / forging, including applications with high magnesium alloys. The Spot AL ensures optimized press speed and high-quality products with minimal scrap.
Ametek shows complete range of solutions for aluminium at Aluminium USA 2021
The Spot Actuator will also be on show. This smart motorized unit is specifically designed to work with the Spot AL pyrometer and provides remotely controlled target alignment and a billet / profile scan.
Ametek Land will also showcase on Stand 443 its complete range of solutions for aluminium applications, including the LSP-HD — a compact infrared linescanner designed to produce advanced and high-homogenous thermal imaging in moving processes — and the ASPS thermal imaging system, designed for temperature monitoring of aluminium and metal strip rolling.
Peter Unwin, global industry manager, Metals, at Ametek Land, said: “We’re excited to be launching our innovative new pyrometer enhancements at Aluminum USA. This event allows us to connect once again with suppliers, customers, and other like-minded people, who are keen to find out more about specialist solutions and technologies for this important industry.”
Aluminum USA 2021 is being held at the Kentucky International Convention Center from 31 August to 2 September 2.
