Aludium has announced changes to its organisational structure, effective since 1 April 2019.

Markus Plakolm, previously director of Aludium’s plant in Amorebieta, has been appointed vice-president of Manufacturing. He reports directly to the CEO of Aludium, Arnaud de Weert. Plakolm replaces Mick Wallis, executive chairman who has returned to the US. Markus joined Aludium in 2018 to lead growth projects including changes to the casthouses in Amorebieta and Alicante. In October 2018 he also assumed the position of director of the Amorebieta plant. In his role as VP of Manufacturing, Markus will provide Aludium with extensive experience in the laminate business. He has been a senior leader in operations and is an expert in improvement processes.

Alberto Ruiz, director of the Alicante plant, has become director of the Amorebieta plant (Vizcaya), succeeding Markus Plakolm. Ruiz joined Alcoa in 2007 as Quality director of the Alicante plant. As director of the Alicante plant he has obtained excellent production results, promoted innovative projects and converted the plant into a strategic reference for Aludium.

José Ignacio Juan Planelles, previously director of Operations in Alicante, assumes the management of the Alicante plant. He joined Alcoa in 2008 as a process engineer and has successfully taken on additional responsibilities in the Alicante plant.
