IMS Technologies SpA of Bergamo, Italy, has entered into a strategic partnership with Laem System Srl. The agreement expands the machine portfolio of Goebel IMS for its slitting and winding machines.
IMS Technologies (previously known as IMS Deltamatic) specializes in the design and manufacturing of slitting and winding machines marketed under the globally known brand Goebel IMS. Further brands are Rotomac, Deltamould and Kasper. Laem System specializes in the manufacturing of machines for the converting and flexible packaging industries. The portfolio includes twin-shaft machines and compact slitter rewinders as well as high automation machinery, which are required for the processing of diverse materials such as paper, film, flexible packaging materials as well as coated materials. The company is based in Casale Monferrato (Piemonte, Italy).
In the future, customers will be able to purchase an expanded machine portfolio as well as industrial automation systems from one source. The cooperation between the two companies applies to Europe as well as to the global markets and includes research and development, production and the sharing of distribution channels.
“We will bundle our strengths and offer them to an expanded international customer base in form of attractive package solutions,” explains Daniele Vaglietti, CEO of IMS Technologies.
“We are confident that with this partnership we shall be able to finally exploit our full potential, while improving further our technology, expanding our product range, increasing the efficiency of our operations in Casale and upgrading our service level for our existing and future customers,” Davide Malki, CEO of Laem System adds. “With a strategic partner like IMS Technologies we gain the resources necessary to meet the demand of shorter innovation cycles and the desire for automation in processing of web-based materials.”
The key benefit of the strategic alliance is the enhancement of Goebel IMS’ product portfolio. The portfolio of Laem System of slitting and special machinery – especially the twin-shaft and high productivity turret machines – perfectly complements the existing machine programme for Goebel IMS. The strategic alliance is the beginning of a process in which the partners exchange their know-how and realize projects together. Further cooperation and later integration of Laem System into the IMS Technologies group will also be subject of the alliance.
IMS Technologies operates five manufacturing facilities in Italy, Germany, and the US and a branch office in China. The group employs more than 350 employees and had a turnover of 72.4 million euros in 2017.
