The 1m tpy project is owned by PT Borneo Alumina Indonesia, a joint venture owned by PT Inalum and PT Aneka Tambang Tbk (Antam) located in Bukit Batu Village, Sungai Kunyit, Mempawah Regency, Kalimantan Province West.

The construction of the alumina refinery requires a total investment of USD850m, and the plant is scheduled to be operational in 2022. It will reduce Indonesia’s dependence on imported raw materials while increasing added value for Indonesian mining commodities.
